Power BI for Project Controls
Build a complete Primavera P6 to Power BI reporting system in eight live sessions: XER automation, EVM and S-curves, look-ahead, resource histogram, variance report and milestone delay drivers.
What you will learn
Eight live sessions of about one hour, on weekends, over four to five weeks. I build each step on screen, and you practise on the same dataset as homework. By the end you have a working P6 to Power BI reporting system you can reuse on your own projects.
How P6 data is structured, what an XER holds and how Power BI reads it.
Parse the XER, keep the columns you need and set the right data types.
Turn your steps into a function and load every update from one folder.
Bring in baseline dates and budgets, then build measures, S-curves and KPIs.
Starting soon, finishing soon, at-risk and critical filters for the weekly meeting.
Planned, actual and remaining manpower from P6 resource assignments.
Layout, drill-downs and sharing the report with your team.
Find out which activity moved each milestone, and by how much.
What you will build
Who it is for
- Planning and scheduling engineers who use Primavera P6 and spend days on monthly reports
- Project controls engineers who want EVM, look-ahead and delay analysis in Power BI
- Project managers and PMO staff who want a reporting system they understand and can maintain
You should know Primavera P6 basics: activities, WBS, baselines and updates. No Power BI experience is needed.
Questions
When does the next batch start?
Join the waitlist and you will hear about the next batch first, with the dates and timings, before it is announced publicly.
Do I need Power BI experience?
No. The course starts from how Power BI reads data. You should be comfortable with Primavera P6 basics.
Will it work with my company's P6 data?
Yes. Everything is built on standard XER exports, so it works with any P6 project. If your schedule is not cost-loaded, you can run it schedule-only.
How are classes run?
Live online sessions on weekends. I build each step on screen and you practise the same steps as homework, with support between sessions.
